FUNimation Snags One Piece
FUNimation announced that it has acquired the rights to the One Piece anime series. FUNimation will resume the translation and television broadcast from 4Kids Entertainment, and will produce its own DVDs. The televised episodes will use a dub based on the American producers' interpretation of the series, rather than the sound of the original footage. Televised broadcasts will still be edited, though they will not be as heavily edited as the episodes produced by 4Kids, when they premiere on Cartoon Network in August.
In addition to the edited televised broadcast, FUNimation plans to release uncut, bilingual DVDs of the series. Domestic DVDs will contain 13 episodes per volume, and will carry a suggested retail price of $49.98US.
